On this page will will be listing awards that are available for clubs and individuals sponsored by District 5020 and Rotary International.  This page is not a complete list of all awards available.


District Membership Awards 


Membership is a vital element of Rotary and the top performing clubs will be recognized during District Conference in Sidney, BC,  May 31-June 2, 2013.

In the club categories of:
  • Clubs up to 40 members as of May 1, 2012
  • Clubs 41 to 70 members as of May 1, 2012
  • Clubs 71 and more members as of May 1, 2012
Base your calculations on club membership beginning May 1, 2012  and final calculations based on club membership numbers as of April 30, 2013.   There will be 9 First Place awards.

MEMBERSHIP PERCENT GROWTH AWARD  -  District recognition of clubs with highest percent net growth.
MEMBERSHIP ABSOLUTE GROWTH AWARD – District recognition of clubs with highest absolute net member gain.
MEMBERSHIP RETENTION AWARD – District recognition of clubs with highest percent same members still in club.

Literacy Awards

District Awards

Club must complete five literacy projects.  Projects that are the same but in different locations (e.g. books, dictionaries to schools) count as only one project.


Zone Awards

Club must complete ten literacy projects, including the five required for the District Literacy Award, and

  • one project from the list of suggested activities on the other side of the brochure
  • either celebrate International Literacy Day (Sept. 8th) or celebrate Literacy Month in March
  • complete a book project (e.g. a dictionary project)

District Foundation Awards


DP Peggs Award


The District Foundation Award is the DP Peggs Award presented to the club with the highest per capita giving.  The award is based upon the end of year giving reported by The Rotary Foundation, usually in October of the following year and is presented by the District Governor


Rotary International Awards


Rotary International offers awards to recognize the efforts and contributions of Rotarians, Rotary clubs, and non-Rotarians. Eligible nominators may submit nominations according to each award's criteria and guidelines.


Presidential Citation


The Presidential Citation, which is designed to increase club involvement in the Four Avenues of Service and membership development. Read more in the Presidential Citation brochure on RI's website.


Avenues of Service Citation  
Nominators: Club presidents
Deadline: Ongoing


This citation program provides a way for Rotary clubs to personally recognize one club member for his or her outstanding efforts in the five Avenues of Service. A club member must have demonstrated support of the Object of Rotary through active participation in each of the five Avenues of Service: Club, Vocational, Community, International, and New Generations. Nominees must be an active Rotarian and can only receive the award once.
