Membership eligibility in Rotarian Action Groups

Dear Rotarians:

At the recommendation of the Rotarian Action Groups Committee, the RI Board recently decided to expand membership eligibility in Rotarian Action Groups. In addition to Rotarians and family members of Rotarians, anyone who has participated in a Rotary or Foundation program at some point in their lives is now eligible to join a RAG

 

 This broader category will continue to include Rotaractors as well as participants and alumni of all other Rotary and Foundation programs, past and present, including (but not limited to):

  • Interact
  • Rotaract
  • Rotary Youth Exchange
  • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
  • Rotary Peace Fellowships
  • Global Grant Scholarships
  • Vocational training teams (members and leaders)
  • District Grant scholarships
  • New Generations Service Exchange
  • Rotary Foundation awards to individuals in former TRF programs, such as:
    • Ambassadorial Scholarships
    • Grants for University Teachers
    • Group Study Exchange
    • Rotary Volunteers 

We are excited about this development, which we hope will strengthen your groups and create new opportunities to engage those touched by Rotary programs and keep them involved in Rotary.

Please note that as the broad scope of Rotary program participants and alumni includes minors (such as current and former Interactors and Youth Exchange students), RAGs that recruit minors or involve youth in their activities must comply with RI’s youth protection policies (copy attached).

If and when your group recruits members belonging to these new categories, please keep records of their program affiliation and provide as much detail as possible in your annual report as to the number of RAG members belonging to each category. This information will help staff do a better job of communicating RAG membership opportunities to the various program participants and alumni with whom we regularly interact.
