If you would like the Council on Resolutions to consider a Resolution from your Club, now is the time to draft and submit that resolution. For clarity, a resolution is a request to the RI Board or The Rotary Foundation Trustees to take an action that is outside the purview of the constitutional documents. Ideally, a resolution should affect the Rotary world, rather than address local or administrative issues.
However, a resolution proposed by a Club must also be voted on, or endorsed, by the clubs in its district at its district conference, a district legislation meeting, or through a ballot-by-mail, before it can be submitted to Rotary. Resolutions must be submitted by the District Governor no later than 30 June 2018.
Time has been reserved during the business meeting at the District Conference on May 5, 2018 for consideration of any Club or District initiated Resolutions. To assist with this process, Resolutions must be submitted to the District 5020 Council Representative, Richard Clarke, no later than April 15th. For information on how to construct a Resolution, either search on the RI Website for “Council on Resolutions” or direct your inquiry to either Richard Clarke or our alternate Council Representative, PDG Joanne Croghan.
