No new Wild Polio cases were reported this week and now into several months. As we come into a new Rotary year, let’s keep working towards this ZERO number.
The first of the comprehensive list of actions on Delivering on a Promise: Polio Eradication Strategy 2022-2026 is:
Further integrating Polio activities with essential health services - including routine immunizations - and building closer partnerships with high-risk communities to co-design immunization events and better meet their health needs, particularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The 2022-26 Polio Eradication Strategy underscores the urgency of 2021-2026 Polio eradication efforts and offers a comprehensive set of actions that will position the GPEI to achieve a Polio-free world!
Scientific breakthroughs with vaccines have led to fewer measles outbreaks, the eradication of smallpox, and a reduction in worldwide polio cases by 99%. Building on our decades of experience supporting polio vaccinations, Rotary clubs are helping increase public trust in COVID-19 vaccinations and working toward the equitable distribution of these vaccines.
