March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Month

One of the seven Areas of Focus is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and is the Rotary theme for March. March 22nd marks World Water Day and ties in as March is designated as Water Month by Rotary International. This year’s theme is: The global campaign, called Be The Change, encourages people to take action in their own lives to change the way they use, consume and manage water.

The promises made by individuals on the campaign website will contribute to the Water Action Agenda - a main outcome of the UN 2023 Water Conference, which opens on World Water Day, 22 March 2023. This World Water Day is about accelerating change to solve the water and sanitation crisis. And because water affects us all, we need everyone to take action. That means you!

You and your family, school and community can make a difference by changing the way you use, consume and manage water in your lives. Your commitments will be added to the Water Action Agenda, to be launched at the UN 2023 Water Conference – the first event of its kind for nearly 50 years. This is a once-in-a-generation moment for the world to unite around water. Play your part. Do what you can.

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN

Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change. Through global grant activities, clubs and districts can participate in strategically focused, high-impact activities that align with Rotary goals.

$160 million is the amount that The Rotary Foundation has invested in water, sanitation, hygiene, and water resource management interventions globally.

Donations via The Rotary Foundation to the Annual Fund Share and through Legacy/Endowment/Bequest giving to WASH programs, help support these activities and grants.
