The 21st century is seeing a rapid transition from rural to urban living with the establishment of cities in every country. Many of these cities are multi-ethnic catch basins. Competition for resources, nationalisms, differing religious beliefs, all these intermingle in dense environments, creating potentials for conflict. However, this is also a great opportunity for people of goodwill to build movements for peacebuilding in the city.

Dr. M.D. Kinoti is a Professor of Leadership & Management at the Anderson College of Business and Computing at Regis University. He teaches peace & Development courses. He is a Rotarian and member of the eClub for world Peace and a cadre co-coordinator for the Peace & conflict Resolution.
