DG RAY ANDERSON'S MONTHLY MESSAGE

MAY 2022 -

DG Ray thanks everyone who attended the 2022 District Conference at The Hangar at Stanley Marketplace, and appreciates your support on his theme of Empowering Youth.

May is Youth Services month. DG Ray reminds us that hearing from the Young Voices of Colorado and our own Young Rotarians gives us hope for Service Above Self in our schools and throughout our communities.

DG Ray encourages you to read RI President Shekhar Mehta's message in the May issue of The Rotarian magazine - "There is no better way to Serve to Change Lives than to serve the cause of peace."

CLUB CONNECTIONS

Through the month of April, Castle Rock High Noon Rotary Club in conjunction with our Colorado Early Colleges Interact Club of Castle Rock and Crutches4Africa have been collecting crutches and medical supplies from friends and neighbors in the area. These items have then been delivered to Project Cure to go to Ukraine.  We have collected truckloads of items! Thank you for all of our Castle Rock support!

Rotary eClub Poland sent an email giving an update on their efforts to Help Ukraine. Rotary clubs from all over the world are responding to our appeals for help, expressing willingness to contribute both in king and financially, and trying to make a difference. Click here to read what has been achieved so far, ongoing projects and upcoming projects as part of the “Help Ukraine” effort.

Post your story on your club's website or Facebook page, and then send the link to office@rotary5450.org. Doing so will give your club more exposure - readers will see the story on your club's site, which will let them know more about your club and members.

THE HEART OF SPRINGTIME - May is Youth Services Month: One of the Rotary’s main avenues of service, Youth Services and is the Rotary theme for May. Whether it is Rotaract, Interact, Young Rotary, RYLA or Rotary Youth Exchange, the youth that we collaborate with, help support in club service, mentor, fundraise for, and offer leadership training and other learning opportunities, have an increasing role in our Rotary lives and truly have the Service above Self spirit and true heart led leadership. We need to continue to focus and nurture our youth in service, and we can help them with district grants supported by 5450 Rotarians for their projects.

CALLING ALL PRESIDENT ELECTS! Great job attending all of your PETS sessions! Here are the Rotary Foundation PE top 3 tips of the month:
  1. In the next few weeks, please work with your Rotary Foundation or Club Foundation chair to determine dollar amount goals for Annual Fund and PolioPlus for the Rotary year 2022-2023 and report those goals on Rotary Club Central by May 1st.
  2. By June 1st, please work with your chairs to select and prepare your foundation (Club and or Rotary) committee members for 2020-2021.
  3. Finally by July 1st, please create subcommittees or teams as needed to help solidify your work in the upcoming year with PolioPlus, Annual Fund giving, Rotary Foundation education, and grants/projects, etc.
Best to you at the start of an incredible journey leading your club!  Please contact Dave Willman, Rotary 5450 Foundation Chair, at foundation@rotary5450.org if The District 5450 Rotary Foundation Team can help in any way.

VACCINES WORK. THE FIGHT TO END POLIO IS PROOF.

It was great to hear of the latest Polio Plus efforts at the District 5450 Conference. 24-30 April was World Immunization Week.

Rotary International believes in the pursuit of a long life, well-lived and #vaccines are key in that pursuit. In the effort to #EndPolio, every vaccination counts.

The #polio program works in the world’s hardest-to-reach places. We need your support to continue providing routine immunizations, essential medicines, and disease surveillance.

Together, we can #EndPolio and build a healthier world for everyone, everywhere.
