DG RAY ANDERSON'S MONTHLY MESSAGE

DECEMBER IS DISEASE PREVENTION & TREATMENT MONTH!

DG Ray remembers the life of Past Rotary International President Cliff Dochterman. Cliff passed away last week, and he was not only a passionate and active Rotarian, but was instrumental in getting the Rotary board to move forward with the eradication of polio.

DG Ray appreciates the support everyone gives to eradicate polio, and the support, wisdom, and judgements everyone in the District makes when trying to see our way through the COVID virus.

Happy and safe Holidays to you all!

DENVER LODO member Byron Kominek was the focus of a story on National Public Radio for his agrivoltaic farm in Loveland. Kominek's farm, rebranded as Jack's Solar Garden (Jack is his grandfather's name), is part of a burgeoning industry known as agrivoltaics. It's a relatively new field of research and Kominek's farm is one of only about a dozen in the United States known to be experimenting with it. But agrivoltaics is drawing particular interest in the West, now in the grips of a 22 year megadrought. CENTENNIAL member Eric Hauff is working to share the Paul Harris Fellowship around the world. Eric's work takes him around the world, including Nigeria, where he was able to encourage his friend Femi to join Rotary, and gift him a Paul Harris Fellowship. What better way to welcome a new Rotarian than to also honor him as a Paul Harris Fellow? DENVER CHERRY CREEK raised $2,000 to supply school supplies to 500 students in La Ceiba, Honduras - the amount was doubled through a matching District grant. Honduras has been hard hit by two hurricanes. The club had previously aided the area through two annual dental missions and assistance to local schools. Click Here to read more...

Post your story on your club's website or Facebook page, and then send the link to office@rotary5450.org. Doing so will give your club more exposure - readers will see the story on your club's site, which will let them know more about your club and members.

HAPPY DECEMBER DISTRICT 5450! WE CELEBRATE THIS MONTH’S THEME AS DISEASE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT MONTH!

Did you know that Disease Prevention and Treatment as an Area of Focus, is the number one requested and approved The Rotary Foundation Global Grant? In last fiscal Rotary year 2020-2021, it made up over 800 out of 2000 total Global Grants or 40% plus of all grants approved.

This season, try and send out holiday cards to your circles that support you as a Rotarian and your Rotary club. Give an update and highlight all the work Rotary is doing within this month’s theme. It may just inspire others to work towards more collaborative solutions, plus find a few members or two! #EachOneBringOne  Read more...
