Englewood Rotary, Walmart & Headstart Preschoolers

For 20 years Dr. Frank Sargent, Past District Governor, has led an Englewood Rotary project for Head Start preschoolers. In recent years the club has teamed with the Englewood Walmart. Here's Frank with the Walmart coordinator Kristine Wallen - it's a warm friendship! Kristine pulled winter clothes - jackets, hats, socks, pajamas and more - for 64 three and four-year-olds, and helped Englewood Rotarians select toys and wrap them. The tab at Walmart was $4,000, which included a $2,000 grant from Walmart. The club will host the children, who are from  the Village for Early Childhood Education in Littleton, at a lunch with Christmas carols, Santa and big bags of all those gifts that will go home with their families to put under the tree. Christmas will be merry!

Message from Ron Burton, President of The Rotary Foundation: “Thanks to the donations made to The Rotary Foundation, all current and future dreams become possible. For me, true philanthropy is not measured by the size of a donation, but by the donation of one’s financial capacity. Imagine the impact we could have if every Rotarian were to donate what he/she could today.”
