Rotarians for Mental Health Launch New Website

R4MH.org highlights clubs’ mental health projects and encourages additional clubs to get involved.

“We are an advocacy coalition of District 5450 clubs, now numbering 14,” said Bill Farrow, one of four co-chairs. “R4MH is a resource for clubs concerned with mental health and substance use disorders and wanting to make a difference in their communities. One thing we advocate is club participation in projects that educate about mental health, serve people with mental health illnesses, reduce the stigma, and promote access to help.”

The website is a cafeteria of successful projects that can be adapted by clubs or can inspire new action. We share the names and contact information of Rotarians involved in these projects who are willing to offer advice and resource help.

CLUB CONNECTIONS

SOLAR LIGHTS CHANGING LIVES

Boulder Flatirons Rotary has been appointed the Rotary marketing arm and contact for the Nokero line of solar lights. Lights deliver up to 15 hours of light per day’s solar charge, recharge in 4 hours, and carry a 5-year warranty. These lights are competitively priced and are a good fit for all international water projects where electricity and kerosene are too expensive in remote areas. CLICK HERE to read the full story.

TWO CLUBS JOIN TOGETHER ON READING PROJECT

The Rotary Club of Highlands Ranch weekly started volunteer visits to assist the teachers with their students’ reading two years ago. The reading program expanded to two schools, but became too much for one club, so Highlands Ranch reached out to the Castle Rock High Noon Club to collaborate - and the results have been a major success! CLICK HERE to read the full story on how members from both clubs are helping students with their reading skills.

Do you want your club's projects and stories listed in the monthly District Newsletter? If so, post your story on your club's website or Facebook page, and then send the link to office@rotary5450.org. Doing so will give your club more exposure - readers will see the story on your's club's site, which will let them know more about your club and members.
