DG CURT HARRIS' MONTHLY MESSAGE

Covid-19 Outbreak Has Disrupted our Routines...

We've been presented with challenges and opportunities. It's important to communicate and stay engaged.

As Winston Churchill observed: "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." Rotarians are optimists at heart. We can and will get through this.

CLUB CONNECTIONS

CLEAR CREEK 2000 held a spontaneous Free Food giveaway on March 18 after receiving 1,000 lbs from Summit Rotary. Read more about this grand gesture for the Georgetown community.

CASTLE ROCK HIGH NOON has organized, in combination with a District Grant, an amount of $3,000 to be used to buy gift certificates from local restaurants and businesses. The club will present the gift certificates to the Help and Hope Center (formerly The Douglas County Task Force) to be used for their clientele who are in great need right now. The Food Bank that the Center runs is stretched very thin. This double-impact initiative helps both our local businesses and local people most in need.

The Rotary Club of Alexandria Cosmopolitan - District 2451 (Egypt) invites all Rotarians to join the CROSS EGYPT CHALLENGE 2020. District Governor Elect Bob Kemp highly recommends this trip – he participated in the ride in 2019, and is happy to answer any questions you might have: dgbob2020.21@gmail.com. Click Here for Trip Details

Pakuranga Rotary Club invites you to join the Ultimate 18 Day Rotary Tour of New Zealand. September 11-28, 2020. Special early bird fares are now available. Click Here for more information

Doing so will give your club more exposure - readers will see the story on your's club's site, which will let them know more about your club and members.

2020-2021 TRF FUNDRAISING & COMMITTEE GOALS:
by incoming TRF Chair Ravi Ravindran

The Rotary Foundation is getting ready for 2020-2021 Rotary Year with some new key performance indicators. District 5450 Rotarians should be aware of how our Foundation is working towards these goals so you know where your generosity is going in the future.
  • Alignment - Make sure they align with the strategic goals and objectives of Rotary
  • Attainable - Indicators measured should have data that can be easily obtained
  • Acute - Keep everyone on the same page and moving in the same direction
  • Accurate - Data flow into the performance indicators should be reliable and accurate
  • Actionable - Each one should provide insight into the business that is actionable?
  • Alive - Ensure TRF is always growing and changing.
Key Performance Indicators should evolve as well!

POLIO NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION DAY - A PERSONAL STORY

On 27 March 2020, the World Health Organization’s Southeast Asia Region recognized six years of polio-free certification.

To be sure, this is an important benchmark as we progress toward a polio-free world, but as I look back on my first National Immunization Day trip to India, the country in the region once considered the most difficult to bring to zero cases, this date has now taken on a new personal significance.
