DG BOB KEMP'S MONTHLY MESSAGE

JUNE: CLOSING OUT 2020-2021

As we come to the end of the 2020-2021 Rotary year, DG Bob is proud of how the Clubs and District have stepped up to find new ways to serve, both locally and internationally. Transitioning to a new year we look to reinvent and reinvigorate ourselves, bringing in new ideas while building on our fundamental ideals and values.

Bob thanks everyone in the District for the opportunity to serve as our District Governor!

DAY OF SERVICE - MAY 8, 2021

DISTRICT-WIDE DAY OF SERVICE!

The May 8, 2021 Day of Service was a prime example of Rotarians doing what they do best: SERVICE!!!

Clubs around the District participated in a variety of projects to help their communities, from food drives and free meals, to clean-up and work days, to a vaccination clinic, Rotarians made an impact. And thanks to all of the clubs that submitted photos and videos, and to District PR Chair Becky Miller-Weinkauf of the Platteville Rotary Club who compiled all of the files into one great video, we're able to see first-hand Rotary in Action!

Whatever You Do, Don’t Talk Politics or Religion…which is the primary reason we are where we are in our society today, divided by politics and religion. Since a child I remember being told that and listening to adults discuss how these two subjects were taboo. It was a sure way to upset an otherwise pleasant experience with friends or family. Discussing either would create a division beyond repair. Read More…

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION

The Rotary Foundation Vision: “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and ourselves.” Adopted by the Board and Trustees in June 2017, this vision statement reflects the impact Rotary aspires to have on the world and our members. THE HEAT IS ON! Things are heating up in District 5450. Yes, I am talking summertime this month, but so too are 5450 Rotarians heating up with reflection, celebration and taking on new giving and volunteer opportunities as #PeopleofAction.
  1. Celebrate accomplishments. This involves looking back on a year of hard work and gratitude for all you have given to the Rotary Foundation, in your community, and around the world in your service projects. This is something all members can take pride in during the biggest year in The Rotary Foundation’s 104-year history.
  2. Acknowledge everyone’s giving. Honoring those members who stand out among us is still important. Hard work in service and generous giving should be celebrated. Spending time during a club meeting talking about member’s contributions can be both aspirational and inspirational.
  3. Look forward to the year ahead. We need to get excited about new opportunities for service, giving new and opportunities to work together for a brighter future. This is what hope is built upon but know where we have been with service.
  4. June is Fellowships Month. Sharing fellowship is a great way to stay connected, learn something new and help even your fellow Rotarians. Virtually and voice communication helps us all feel like we are among friends and share #coloradorotarycares.

POLIO PLUS UPDATE: JUNE 1, 2021 - No new Wild Polio cases reported this week and this past month! Read more about the final two polio endemic countries by CLICKING HERE!

PEACE FELLOWS SCHOLARS UPDATE We have five World Peace Applicants for sure in 5450 and the committee is reviewing and interviewing this month of June. As a reminder, Rotarians, your Rotary Foundation giving, directly impacts our Peace Fellowships from our district and meets our foundation mission. To learn more about Peace Center #7, check out https://www.rotary.org/en/rotary-establishes-peace-center-makerere-university

THE ROTARY FOUNDATION UPDATE - Giving today to the Annual Fund Share will help fulfill our service project resource pipeline down the line. www.rotary.org/donate is the easiest way to give today!

Can we as a District have 100% of clubs achieve banners this year? Clubs have several opportunities to receive banners, recognizing their level of support. Banners include:
  • 100% Foundation Giving Club
  • 100% Every Rotarian, Every Year Club
  • 100% Paul Harris Society Club
Use Foundation reports like the Club Foundation Banner Report and the Club Recognition Summary to monitor your club's progress towards giving and recognition goals.
