Scott retired after spending nearly 45 years in banking and public accounting. Most of his banking career was in community banking as a member of the senior management team with a focus on commercial, consumer and mortgage banking. He currently does some limited consulting in the area of banking and development work for not for profits. Scott obtained a Masters in Business Management from the University of St. Thomas and a  Bachelors of Accounting from the University of Minnesota Duluth.

His wife, Carole, is also retired. They are blessed with three daughters, one son-in-law, and a granddaughter.

Scott's Rotary journey began in 1989 as a member of the Eagan Rotary Club.  He served that club twice as President.  In addition to being in the leadership ladder he also spent time as the Youth Exchange Officer, Membership Chair and the Sponsorship Chair for the club annual fundraiser.  The Swenson family has hosted four youth exchange students.

While President of the Eagan Club, Scott helped start the Eagan Kick Start Rotary Club and the Eagan High School Interact Club.  Due to job relocation, he was a member of the Owatonna Rotary Club for a couple of years before returning to Eagan.  In January of 2026 he joined the Eagan Kick Start Rotary Club.

At a district level, Scott has served on the Membership and Foundation Committees. He currently is coordinating the District Visioning Team and is the District 5950 Barcelona Convention Promotion Chair for the RI Convention in 2027.  Part of being the DG Nominee is gaining exposure and experience in various Rotary settings. This year Scott is beginning a 2-year RI learning program to prepare for his DG year and get to know his future DG classmates from districts in the midwest region.   

The Swensons are Paul Harris Society members and Bequest Donors to the Rotary International Foundation.

Scott is passionate about making a difference.  He has been active on a number of community boards and not for profit initiatives during his career.  These include the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the American Cancer Society, the Open Door Food Pantry, the Eagan Art House, the Eagan Sesquicentennial and the Eagan July 4th Funfest.  Roles included board leadership and fundraising.

A fun fact is that Scott was the 2023 Commodore for the Minneapolis Aquatennial.
