Plymouth Rotarian Norm Okerstrom shared the happy ending of his son Teddy's cardiac arrest at 16, which he survived, at a CPR training held by the Rotary Club of Plymouth on April 3 at Plymouth City Hall.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the District 5950 Club Leadership Training Assembly on April 26! Highlights included sessions on volunteer leadership, building productive teams, effective communication, social media storytelling, and thriving virtually.
We partnered with three other districts to collaborate on a project that all clubs across our four districts can implement at the same time to generate region-wide media coverage and raise awareness of Rotary.
Attendees came from across Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota.Public Image pros Patrick and Amber led the brainstorming and we did a service project with the Rotaract Club of St. Cloud writing cards for residents in a nursing home.
The Burnsville Breakfast and Noon Clubs combined forces to clean and organize the 360 Communities Burnsville Food Shelf and warehouse!

The Rogers Rotary Club is collecting plastic! They are then recycling the plastic with NexTrex that not only keeps thousands of pounds of waste out of landfills, but helps create eco-friendly outdoor products like benches.

Our member, Doug Kveene, visited a Hawaii Rotary Club and had a heartwarming welcome.
Here was what he shared about his experience that we can bring to our clubs:
The Club President personally walked up to me and welcomed me. We had a conversation about where I was from.
I was welcomed by everyone in attendance.
The group recognized me during introductions.
They invited me to their Rotary events (picnic, 75th Birthday party, a Rotarian’s home)
It was awarm and genuine welcome, not a mandatory welcome.
They are consistent in the style of their welcomes. I’ve been there several times and have been treated the same every time and I’ve noticed this, too, when other Rotarians visit their club.
Try out these ways to hopefully bridge the gap in transforming a visitor into a Rotary member.

Fellow Rotarian, Tim Rehn, collapsed from a heart attack last year. Quick thinking by a former EMT saved his life via CPR and an AED. As a result, Tim made a full recovery. Later, the Willmar Rotary Club purchased and installed an AED at Robbins Island, home of their annual Rockin’ Robbins concert series. Then to further recognize how important AEDs are to saving lives, our Willmar Rotary Clubmembers attended training so we could all learn how to use an AED!
