We Came, We Celebrated, We Conquered!

District 5950's 2014-15 Governor, Jim Nelson, was officially installed June 25--and outgoing DG Diann Kirby was given a warm send-off (though she's not really going anywhere).

Rotarians from around the district came together to celebrate DG Diann Kirby's successful 2013-14 Rotary year and heralded in our new leader, Jim Nelson from Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary. Click here to see a slideshow of photos from the evening.

Jim is a lawyer with Briggs and Morgan, with 27 years of experience and has been a member of the City of Lakes Rotary since 1999.

Under Diann's leadership this year, our district has:

  • Distributed nearly $400,000 to clubs in matching global and district grants.
  • Raised $80,000 for PolioPlus – more than double the clubs’ fundraising goal.
  • Received a $40,000 grant from Hunger-Free Minnesota that was leveraged into more than $82,000 worth of projects in 13 communities.
  • Generated $610,000 for the The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund.
  • Increased membership by 27, topping out at 2,902 as of May 2014.
  • Formed three Interact clubs.
  • Launched a satellite club in Rogers and started forming a breakfast club in Eagan.
  • Attracted the biggest crowd in recent memory to an extraordinary District Conference.
  • Honored a record 41 clubs with District awards.
  • Doubled attendance for District trainings with engaging and informative sessions.
  • Produced two successful applicants for the highly competitive Peace Fellows program.
  • Sent an inaugural Vocational Training Team to Germany.
  • Chartered a District association for Rotary alumni.
