Supporting Maui Fire Recovery and Rebuild

Aloha Rotarians & Friends of Rotary,
I am sure you are aware of the devastating news regarding the recent fire hurricane on Maui. The Maui fires are the most devastating destruction in our state since Hawaii joined the US in 1959. As of this morning,  93 deaths have been reported and there are likely to be many more. So painful to think about!
There are 53 Rotary clubs in Hawaii and 8 of them are on the island of Maui.  Our District has set up a special fund to benefit Maui Fire Victims. All funds are being channeled through the Rotary District 5000 Foundation. A committee has been organized to determine the greatest needs for the distribution of monies in Maui.  These funds will be used over the next year for the recovery and rebuilding phase of Maui which will take many, many years.

If you wish to support Maui IN DISASTER RELIEF, you can contribute directly to the Maui Food Bank, or to the World Central Kitchen, who are cooking on Maui to provide meals.
You can also help our Maui Ohana by donating to the Hawai'i Red Cross (American Red Cross of Hawaiʻi) 
To volunteer, you can email VolunteerPacific@redcross.org. The Red Cross is assisting folks who are searching for folks on Maui. Contact by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

The REALTORS® Association of Maui is also working to connect people with homes on Maui with people who were displaced by the fires. Please reach out to anyone you may know with space over on Maui. It takes a village, and you can help make an impact by reaching out to friends, and family to support the Maui community. Hawai'i Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund - The Hawai'i Community Foundation (HCF) is a 501 (c)(3) organization whose mission is to "inspire generosity, advocate for equity, forge connections and invest in the community to create a better Hawai'i. Every contribution to HCF's Maui Strong Fund, large or small, will make a difference as we work to support communities through services including shelter, food, financial assistance and other needs as they arise. 100% of the funds raised will be distributed for the community needs in Maui. 
 
REALTOR® Relief Fund Contributions - Every dollar donated goes directly to victims of disasters. The National Association of REALTORS® is pleased to cover 100% of administrative expenses. You may designate the residents of Maui to be the recipients of your donation. More information to follow.
REALTORS® Association of Maui Community Foundation is also accepting donations through their General Community Fund.
 
We encourage you to support any or all of these efforts to help the island of Maui and its residents. As my good friend used to say, NO DONATION IS TOO LARGE. So many organizations and businesses have stepped up to raise money and accept donations in Maui’s time of need.
