The Humanityalliance.org website says "The Humanity Alliance is a Minnesota-based 501(c)(3) non-profit that was established in 2018. We create long-lasting community value, health and wealth by launching and scaling disruptive innovations. Our initial focus is providing improved access to nutrition to people who are food insecure and was inspired by a group of Minneapolis high school students. These students and their families are disproportionately held back by the catastrophic health outcomes tied to food insecurity. We are inspired to serve communities where food insecurity and chronic disease continue to create barriers that have a lasting impact."
Chanhassen Rotary and many other Rotary Clubs and District 5950 participated in the build out of their commercial kitchen in Victoria and now volunteer for service there.
Tim Mulcrone said "17% of our landfills are food waste. Therefore, one funding stream for their operations is county reduce reuse and recycle programs."
Mulcrone shared how utilizing Signup Genius, the work is broken down into manageable two hour shifts; no commitment needed for long shifts or repeated appearance. For the delivery on Friday, volunteers utilize OnFleet app that takes them door to door over a 2-3 hour period. Going “in-service “ for a delivery notifies the recipient their food is on the way and asks if they would like meals the next week. There is no vetting, a person just needs only to ask for meals and they will make every effort to meet the need. Mulcrone highlighted the 6000 nutritional meals (five weekend meals times the number of household members) that are prepared under the guidance of Humanity Alliance chefs and delivered each Friday.
