Our District Assembly is an event to prepare club leaders, board members and committee chairs for the 2015-2016 Rotary year.

This year we have a unique opportunity to increase awareness of Rotary and our mission to eradicate polio by partnering with the March of Dimes and volunteering at check-in for their inaugural March for Babies!

From 6:30a.m.- 8:30 am   Put "Service Above Self" as a Rotary Volunteer with the March of Dimes first-ever "March for Babies" in the Mall of America Rotunda

The Back story:  The March of Dimes was born out of polio stricken President FDR’s desire to fund research for The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.  That organization became March of Dimes (for the dimes that were sent to the White House) and funded the work of Doctors Salk and Sabin; that research led to the polio vaccines.  The March of Dimes changed focus a bit though still today promotes vaccination schedules.  Rotary adopted the effort of eradication in 1985 and has been the major driving force in fund raising and inoculating children ever since.

OUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL THE ROTARY POLIO SUCCESS STORY to the hundreds of participants in the March for Babies at the Mall of America.  Rotary volunteers will serve as greeters, registrars and participant guides; you will receive a special Rotary t-shirt.  Our participation will increase awareness of our Rotary clubs in District 5950 and generate media coverage.   Volunteer t-shirts and visuals will tell our Rotary story!

From 9:00 a.m -1:00 p.m. Attend learning sessions that will prepare you and your club to "Be Gifts to the World." These will be held in a learning center at the Mall of America on East Side, Level 2 on topics such as leadership, membership retention, ClubRunner/PR, etc.
