Rotary Peace Fellowships are awarded to scholars to pursue a master’s degree in international studies and peace and conflict resolution.  A second program, a three-month summer professional development certificate course, is available in Thailand. District 5950 has had many successful applicants over the years who are now working at the United Nations and other global organizations, in governments around the world, and in business and nongovernmental settings that advance peace.

Please inform qualified applicants about this program.   Candidates must have earned an undergraduate degree and have 3-5 years of work or volunteer experience and a demonstrated commitment to peace and service.  Rotarians and their family members are not eligible.  Fellowship funding includes transportation, room and board, tuition, fees, and a stipend.

There is a three-step application process. Candidates submit online applications to their local Rotary Clubs by April 10, 2016. Next, local clubs send applications to our district committee by May 1, 2016. Finally, required in-person interviews for finalists will be held in early June, and nominees’ names are then forwarded to The Rotary Foundation. Recipients will be announced in November 2016 for studies to begin in fall 2017.   For more information, visit www.rotary.org/foundation/programs.html  (application at Students and Youth) or contact me at 952-693-5206, kennedy@worldwithoutgenocide.org
