Rotary District 5950, the Twin Cities Rotary EcoClub and the Rotary Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group participated in a pre-Earth Day Mississippi River Operation Pollination Partnership signing event on April 19, a major collaboration between many organizations that have a state in protecting the Mississippi River’s natural environment.
The event's Master of Ceremonies was Twin Cities EcoClub member and National Park Service Ranger Chris Stein. Chris reminded attendees that insect pollinators are responsible for the reproductive success of more than 85% of plants on the planet, and in just the past 50 years more than 40% of pollinators on Earth have disappeared. Those that signed pledged to take action to plant and preserve pollinator habitat.
