On April 7, District 5950’s Rotary Foundation Alumni Association was officially sanctioned by Rotary International.

The group is committed to engaging alumni of Rotary programs in current Rotary activities and educating others about the difference Rotary has made in their lives through social events, networking opportunities, community service and Rotary activities.

District Governor Diann Kirby presented the official charter at the District Foundation’s Recognition Dinner, May 1, to Amanda Ottman, Association president, and Carol MacDonald, Dist. 5950 Alumni Committee Chair.

The Association was chartered with 15 members, all alumni of Rotary programs such as World Peace Fellows, Ambassadorial Scholars, Vocational training programs, Youth Exchange and Group Study Exchange. The group continues to add new members as the excitement builds for this new group.

“Rotary does a great job of inviting people to participate in amazing, life-changing programs; however, we don’t always keep those connections strong,” Carol says. “We formed this Association as a way of keeping alumni engaged and using their passion and talent to spread the word about Rotary throughout our own membership and our communities.”

Alumni have already spoken at many club and district meetings, emphasizing the value of donations to The Rotary Foundation, and their first social is planned for June 18.  Click here to learn more about the Alumni Association and invite a member to speak at your club meeting.
