We look forward to welcoming you to Winnipeg for the 2016 Zone Institute!

Here are some tips and information to assist you in your travels and your stay with us.

Arrival
If you are flying, you will arrive at Winnipeg's Richardson International Airport.  There is no shuttle service to the Institute hotels so the best way to travel will be by taxi.  The ride will take about 20 minutes and the fare should be under $40 CDN.  CLICK HERE for additional transportation information.  The two official hotels are:

The Fort Garry Hotel located at 222 Broadway Avenue (tel: 1-204-942-8251)
The Humphrey Inn located at 260 Main Street (tel: 1-877-486-7479)

Additionally, as those hotels were sold out, some rooms were booked at the Best Western Plus Downtown Winnipeg, located at 330 York Avenue (tel: 1-204-942-0101).

If you are traveling by car and staying at the Fort Garry Hotel, we have arranged a discounted parking fee of $7 per day.  There is no parking fee if you are staying at the Humphry Inn.

Speakers and VIP's will be met at the airport and will meet their Aides at the hotel.

The Hotels
The Fort Garry Hotel will be the main venue for sessions with two exceptions.  Thursday night's dinner will be at the Canadian Museum For Human Rights and there will be buses for transportation. Governor's Nominee training will be at the Humphry Inn, on Wednesday only.

The hotels are located within easy walking distance of each other and the Canadian Museum For Human Rights.  CLICK HERE FOR A MAP.

Registration
Registration for the Zone Institute (Wednesday to Friday) will open at the Fort Garry Hotel  from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  and then from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Registration for Governors-Elect and Governors-Nominee and others on Monday and Tuesday will be at their respective hotels from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Registrants will be given a program with meeting schedules and information. You can also click to download the Zone Institute agenda, the Wednesday Forums agenda as well as the agendas for GETS and GNATS

Should I Have Canadian Cash?
Credit cards are used almost everywhere (including the taxi from the airport) so having cash isn't necessary.  But it is always nice when traveling to have some local currency, especially for small purchases.  If you have time and it is convenient, you may want to get some Canadian cash from your bank or a currency converter business.  If not, use a bank machine at the airport, hotel or a local bank.  Often a bank will have sister-bank relationships where the transaction fee is waived so check with your bank.

Internet Access
Complimentary wifi access is included at the Fort Garry Hotel and the Humphry Inn for the rooms, public areas and plenary/breakout rooms.  At the Fort Garry Hotel, the access code is "broadway".  Those staying at the Humphry Inn will be given the code at the hotel reception desk.

Weather
The weather is expected to be warm and mostly sunny.  Daytime temperatures should be in the low to mid-20's Celcius (high 60's to mid-70's Fahrenheit) and cool in the evenings.  The meeting rooms are air conditioned so you may wish to have a wrap or jacket.

Dress Code
For the daytime sessions, we recommend Rotary casual (especially Rotary logo clothing).  Wear business attire for dinner sessions (and Class Jackets for the Friday dinner) with either business attire or semi-formal wear for the final Saturday dinner.

For the Museum tour on Thursday evening, please wear comfortable shoes.  There will be a fair bit of walking and uncomfortable shoes could lead to an uncomfortable evening.

No Program On Sunday
The Celebration of Life, traditionally held on Sunday, will be held instead on Saturday at 4:25 p.m. so that the Zone Institute will close after the Saturday night banquet.
