From limited information we have been able to receive from District records and Governor Walter's home club, we have been able to assemble this brief account of Governor's Walter's year.

The International President during this year was Carl P. Miller from Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A. Carl became better known in later years as the originator of the matching grants program of the Rotary Foundation.

Governor Walter was first Governor of our District to have Reps or aides. Walter Behnke, still an active member of the Paramus Club, served as one of Governor Walter's aides. Governor Walter moved his Conference from the normal location at the New Jersey shore to the concord hotel in New York.

This was the year that President Kennedy was assassinated. This event had a pronounced effect, not only on Rotarians, but also on the people of the world in general.
