Stephen Vartan Jarahian served as the 60thGovernor of Rotary District 7490 in 2016 – 2017.
 
Stephen Vartan Jarahian was born in Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, NJ. He resided with his family in Union City and North Bergen where he grew up. He attended Union Hill High School in Union City and North Bergen High School where he graduated. After high school, he attended R.E.T.S. Electronics School then located in Kearny, NJ and was hired at Litton Industries as an electronics technician.
 
Steve was inducted into the U.S. Army shortly thereafter and after Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, NJ and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA he served as an M.P. with 545th M.P. Co. in the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in Vietnam. His tour in Vietnam was from 28 Dec 65 to 27 May 67. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal among other awards and decorations.
 
After serving in the U.S. Army, he attended Rutgers University and earned a B.S. in Management. He also attended the Rutgers Graduate School of business for one year.
 
He was self-employed in the Office Coffee Industry for twenty-one years and spent an additional twenty years as a Licensed Mortgage Banker. He retired from HomeBridge Financial Services in 2012.
 
Steve joined the Rotary Club of Bergenfield (later Bergenfield-Dumont) in 1975.
 
He served on the Board of Directors, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President, President-Elect and President. He also chaired the Scholarship Committee, RYLA and the World Affairs Seminar for a period of twelve years in his Club. Mo and also served two additional terms as his Club's President.
 
He had the honor of serving P.D.G. Emil Geering as his District Treasurer Rotary Year 2011-2012. He served P.D.G. Lenny Agrusti as Chairman or our District's Military Family Assistance Center. He served P.D.G. Calisto Bertin as Membership Chairman in 2014-2015.
