We are pleased to report the following results from the District Nominating Committee which met today for the purpose of nominating the District Governor and Vice Governor for Rotary Year 2017-2018.

Dear Club President:

We are pleased to report the following results from the District Nominating Committee which met today for the purpose of nominating the District Governor and Vice Governor for Rotary Year 2017-2018. A quorum was present, with 14 out of 15 Areas represented on the Committee, which interviewed the candidates and then deliberated until a decision was made. (One representative became unavailable just this morning, due to a death in her community, and there was not time to bring in an alternate.)

The District Governor Nominee-Designate for Rotary Year 2017-2018 is Wendy Walsh-DeMaria, of the Seatuck Cove Rotary Club.

The Vice Governor for our district for the same year will be PDG Kathy Gibson.

The actual confirmation of Wendy as District Governor presumably will come at the Rotary International Convention, to be held in 2016, where Wendy’s name will be presented for confirmation as an officer of RI for 2017-18.

All members of the committee are to be commended and thanked for their serious work and dedication in choosing our next governor. Wendy (and Kathy) should be congratulated on their success. But this also should not in any way demean or diminish any other candidate. While it is not appropriate to comment on who or how many other candidates were present, we can assure the district that the committee had a very difficult decision to make, and that they did so in a most professional manner, guided by their love for Rotary and following the 4-Way Test.

Please notify the membership of your club as to these results.

Best regards,

Anthony Civitano, District Governor
David Ardam, PDG, Counsel to the Committee
