Our beautiful Autumn weather belies the tempest and travail of our fellow Americans in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Residents of these islands and others devastated by an especially brutal hurricane season will need our help to recover and rebuild. Please give generously to the Rotary Foundation’s Donor Advised Funds set up specially to respond to these recent events. If you would like to donate the following link will help direct your contribution:

Please remember that October is Polio Awareness Month. Clubs around the district are planning special events in order to bring us closer to our goal of eradicating this dreaded disease once and for all.

Other important upcoming events are the Zone 24 & 32 Conference in Hartford, Conn.  with special events planned for Young Professionals, Future Leaders, and a special Luncheon with RI President Ian Riseley on Friday. You can go to the Zone 24 & 32 website for details.

November 4th is Rotary Leadership Institute at Mt. St. Mary’s College in Newburgh, NY. This is an opportunity to learn and share techniques and strategies for becoming a more effective leader and strengthening your club.

Our Rotary Foundation Brunch will be held at The Thayer Hotel on November 5th. Come and celebrate with us our District Rotarians’ generosity at this historic venue on the grounds of West Point.

A note of respect and appreciation to our Past District Governor Louis Turpin who spent three weeks in Texas aiding victims of Hurricane Harvey and Gary Siegel and the Liberty Rotary Club for organizing and implementing a relief mission to the people of Friendswood, Texas also affected by the hurricane.

Service Above Self Reigns.

Yours in Rotary,

DG Jim Damiani
