Wilf Gray is proud to be the president of the B-E-L Rotary Club of Bridgenorth-Ennismore-Lakefield. The B-E-L Rotary Club – with 30 members currently - has a history of working in the communities of Bridgenorth, Ennismore and Lakefield as well as the international community to better the lives of people and the environment. This is also the home club of our District Governor Sue Davidson.
Club members are proud of their many projects and activities. One of their most popular activities and fundraisers is the annual Polar Plunge where participants dress up according to the theme of the year and jump into freezing cold water. This year is the 39th annual Polar Plunge and it takes place on Sunday, Feb 3th, 2019 at Rotary Park in Ennismore. The 2019 theme is “Hockey Plunge in Canada”. With only a few weeks until the event, consider taking plunge yourself or coming out to watch DG Sue and the other brave souls who are going to jump into the icy water to raise funds for local charities. For more information, check out the Polar Plunge website at https://www.easypledge.ca/bel-rotary/.

B-E-L Rotarians are involved in many other local and international projects. They organize an “adopt-a-family” hamper project where B-E-L Rotarians purchase games, toys and clothing for local families to help provide for them a brighter, merrier Christmas. For the past several years, B-E-L Rotarians, family and community partners have joined forces to clean up their neighbourhood by participating in the Super Spring Clean Up - picking up garbage, trimming the gardens and monitoring the B-E-L Rotary Bridgenorth Trail. Internationally, B-E-L Rotarians, Brian and Dorothy Menton have participated in two National Immunization Days to help eradicate polio from the world, with the most recent being to Pakistan in November, 2018. They have supported other international projects as well as a Vocational Training Team to Cambodia.

If you are ever in the Bridgenorth, Ennismore or Lakefield areas, please consider doing a make-up at the B-E-L Rotary Club. Meetings take place on Mondays at 6:30pm at Chemong Lodge at 764 Hunter Street in Bridgenorth.
