Sailing around the world to raise support | ||
Seung Jin Kim set out from Korea in mid-October on a 25,600-mile ocean journey around the world. A veteran sailor and Rotary member, Kim is fulfilling a lifelong dream and using the trip to raise awareness and funds -- his goal is at least $200,000 -- to help end polio.

Sustaining a polio-free India, targeting other diseases | ||
Rotary and its partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative have committed to strengthening routine immunization levels in India to ensure that children are protected against polio and other life-threatening, vaccine-preventable diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, tuberculosis, measles, and hepatitis B. The Indian government is aiming to achieve full immunization by 2020.

Pakistan Railway creates first permanent immunization site | |||||
The Rotary Club of Karachi Garden, Sindh, Pakistan, joined with the local government to establish the first permanent polio immunization site along the Pakistan Railway. Located at the Karachi Cantonment Station, the site is used to vaccinate children who would otherwise be missed during National and Subnational Immunization Days.

The Rotary Club of Independence, Missouri, USA, raised $80,000 from its Carnival-themed event. Rotary clubs in Bristol, England, collected about $25,000 in coins donated by the public. Rotary members also laid packaged strips of the coins end to end at a shopping mall, covering more than a mile of floor, to help raise awareness of polio.
The Rotary Club of Hӧrby, Sweden, sponsored a concert that netted nearly $12,000.
