Indiana Rotary License Plates on Sale Now, at your local BMV or Online during 2015
2015 is the Year to sell 500 Indiana Rotary License Plates or more statewide!!!! We STILL need your HELP to do it!
It is imperative that we meet this sales goal in order to ensure that the Indiana Rotary Plate will continue to be available in the future. We have been notified that 2015 will be the last year of the Rotary plate if we do not reach the goal of 500 plates. We need your help to get the word out to all members, friends and family member of Rotarians! With more than 6,000 Rotarians in the State of Indiana with one or more vehicles, it should not be difficult to meet this goal! So as your vehicle license plates come up for renewal during 2015, and you receive your renewal registration form in the mail, please consider purchasing an Indiana Rotary License plate for your various vehicles, and show your pride in being a Rotarian in our great State of Indiana, and especially Rotary District 6540.
Now here is something to think about: Only 8% of all Indiana Rotarians need to purchase a Rotary Plate to achieve our Statewide Goal! We need to encourage at least 4 - 5 members per club to buy a Rotary license plate!!! Or get one member to buy 2 auto plates, 2 truck plate and 1 motorcycle plate!!!! Now that sounds easy!
As you are aware, starting in 2012 the Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club issued a Challenge to Rotarians within the three Indiana Districts to purchase the Rotary license plate. The Challenge specified that the District with the highest percentage of sales based on total number of District members would receive a prize of $1,500 and the winning District Governor would direct the use of the prize money for a charitable purpose in his/her District.
As a result, the license plate sales increased to 278 in 2013 and over 318 in 2014. The first year the check was awarded to District 6580. Last year the check was awarded to District 6560! Now folk's any way you look at it, it is District 6540 turn to win this challenge, and with your fantastic support, we can do it! So spread the word to purchase Indiana Rotary License plates upon renewal of your current plates on your vehicle.
District 6540 is the largest Rotary district in Indiana based on number of clubs and number of members. So, we can win this challenge if we work together to accomplish it. Winning $2,000 for a district project or event, is better than $500 where we (District 6540) finished last year. So, we need each and everyone of you in our district to help us in this effort to maintain the Indiana Rotary plates for years to come, and win the 2015 challenge.
We are pleased to announce the 2015 Challenge will be based on the calendar year and not the Rotary year. We hope that this year’s Challenge will encourage an even greater number of members to purchase the Rotary plate in order to reach our sales goal of 500 plates or more.
In an effort to support the RI End Polio Now campaign, there is another component to this challenge! For each plate purchased, the Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club will donate $1 to The Rotary Foundation on behalf of Our District 6540 for the End Polio Now initiative. That amount will then triple thanks to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation 2 to 1 match. A win, win situation.

2015 Rotary License Plate Challenge:
First Place: $2000
Second Place: $1000
Third Place: $ 500
Prize money will be awarded based on the percent of license plate sales by District membership. Rotary plate sales are reported to the Columbus Sunrise RC by the Indiana BMV on a monthly basis. The total number of plates sold by county within each District is determined from January 1, 2015 – December 31, 2015 and divided by the number of members in the District at the end of December 2014. The District with the greatest percentage of sales/members will be awarded the first place prize. Districts with the second and third place percentages will receive those prize awards. Prize money will be awarded to the 2015-2016 District Governors in January 2016.
