What is Rotaract?

Rotaract clubs are part of a global network of the largest service organization in the world. Our service efforts start at the community level but knows no limits in its outreach. Rotaractors have access to the many resources of Rotary International (RI) and The Rotary Foundation. The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women (ages 18-30) to enhance the skills that will assist in personal development, to address the needs of their local  communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through international service.

If you are interested in helping the community, we create local projects and help with other non-governmental organizations. If you are interested in making new friends, our friendly members hold social events. If you are interested in professional development, we offer networking opportunities where we meet Rotarians that serve as our mentors, plus we attend conferences and international conventions. If you are interested in opportunities to travel abroad, our international projects will take you all over the world to volunteer with other similar-minded Rotaractors from the world-wide Rotaract network. Rotaract will provide you with the chance to change the world!

How does Rotaract fit into the Rotary family?

Rotary International is a worldwide service organization for leading business and professional men and women, with more than 1.2 million members in over 34,578 Rotary clubs. Each Rotaract club is sponsored by a local Rotary club. This sponsorship is a result of Rotary’s belief that young people, or New Generations, should take an active interest in community life and have the opportunity for professional development.

Rotaract is a community service organization that
brings together young women and men ages 18-30. It is one of Rotary's most significant and fastest-growing service clubs with more than 6,130 Rotaract clubs in about 120 countries and geographical areas. Rotaract clubs are either community based, university based, or a hybrid between community and university based clubs. Each club is sponsored by a local Rotary club which makes Rotaractors true "Partners in Service" and key members of the Family of Rotary.   Rotaractors organize service activities, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun.   Rotary clubs sponsor them, but Rotaract members manage and fund their clubs independently.  Rotaract members work closely with their local Rotary club, and may join after their Rotaract membership ends.

How does it work?

Most Rotaract activities take place at the club level. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings every two weeks, which feature speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions or visits to other clubs. Club members get together on designated days for service project work, social events, or professional/leadership development workshops.

Explanation of Rotaract Age Limit:
The
Rotary Code of Policies 41.020 item 15 reads:
"On 30 June of the Rotaract year in which a member becomes 30 years old, his or her Rotaract membership will end.
(The "Rotaract year" starts on July 1st and ends on June 30th).

Examples:
1.  Your 30th birthday was between July 1, 2013 and June 29, 2014 - your Rotaract membership ends on June 30, 2014.
2.  Your 30th birthday is between July 1, 2014 and June 29, 2015, then your Rotaract membership ends on June 30, 2015.
