As you remember, Sonia Azad, Channel 13 reporter & Rotary GSE team member, developed and broadcast her "GSE Team Trip to India" special report several months ago. Great publicity for Rotary throughout the Greater Houston Area & around the world.  We are thrilled to report that last night, Sonia was given a Regional Emmy Award for her half-hour special report.

In this half-hour special program, Sonia Azad highlights parts of her month-long trip to Kerala and Tamil Nadu in South India. There were some of the good-will projects Rotary is involved with on the ground there-- and heard first hand from the GSE team about what it's like to live with Indian families. You also heard from Indian doctors who lived in Houston for a month as part of the Rotary's GSE program. What they experienced and what they are taking back with them that could be life-changing for the future of medical care in India...

This is Sonia's first Emmy nomination and award. We am thrilled that a panel of judges and media critics saw the value in the story as much as Sonia did, and still does.

Sonia wants to thank Rotary & Bill Davis for being part of the story... for sending her to India with such an amazing team-- Jagdip, Atif, Christy and Victorina, from whom she says she continues to learn... and for agreeing to do interviews and help her to get this story out for the public.

Sonia also thanks all the Rotarians who made this story possible, especially those from the Humble club who helped coordinate her interviews with visiting GSE members from India.

Great Job, Sania, Congratulations!!!!
