Indian Clerics offer to Help Fight Polio in Pakistan - noting that "India is not safe until neighboring Pakistan is Polio-free" , members of India's Rotary Muslim Ulema committee have come forward to offer their assistance in dispelling the myths surrounding Polio vaccinations in Pakistan. Religious leaders have administered Polio drops to their children in front of cameras and they now believe the magic (of zero Polio cases for over 2 years in India) could be repeated in Pakistan.

An emergency Horn of Africa polio outbreak meeting was held this week in Cairo, Egypt, hosted by the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO). Want Another Reason - to support Rotary's effort to eradicate Polio worldwide? Last year, 469 California schools had a vaccination exemption rate (parents elected to leave their children un-vaccinated for religious or philosophical reasons) of 10% or more and 178 schools there had an exemption rate of 20% or more. Until we reach global eradication, Polio is just a plane ride away and an outbreak could be started today by one person traveling from any of the Final Five.
