2003-04 District 6970 PDG Ken Smallwood from Orange Park, Florida will serve as Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith's representative to our 2011 District Conference at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa in Bastrop on April 28-30th.
 
Ken was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, graduated from the University of Alabama, and currently lives in Orange Park, Florida.  From 1987-2000, Ken worked with two different commercial real estate firms in Orange Park and Jacksonville.  He has been a Florida Licensed Real Estate Broker since 1987, a General Partner in BFC Partnership, Limited, a seller of vacant land, since 1998, and the owner of Ken Smallwood & Associates, a political campaign consulting firm, since 2009.
Ken joined the Rotary Club of Orange Park in 1989, and has had 100% attendance since that time.  He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Major Donor, and a member of the Bequest Society.  He served as President in 1998-99.  As President-Elect, he was a Delegate to the International Convention in 1998.
On the district level, Ken served as District Governor of District 6970 in 2003-04.  He was chair of the 2000 District 6970 Conference, and was also the chair of the District Leadership Institute from 2006-09.  Beyond the district level, he was a trainer at the International Assembly in 2008, an Alternate Delegate to the 2007 Council on Legislation, the chair of the All Florida Multi-District PETS in 2011, and the President’s Representative to District Conferences in 2007-09, as well as 2011.
In the community, Ken has been active in the Clay County and Jacksonville Chambers of Commerce, the Clay County Committee of 100/Clay County Economic Development Council, First Coast Jobs & Education Regional Board, National Association of Industrial & Office Parks (Northeast Florida Chapter), NEFBA, Clay Builders Council, Clay County Charter Review Commission, and the Northeast Florida Regional Council (as a Gubernatorial appointee).
Politically, he has been very active in the Clay County Republican Party, and was the Founding President of the Federated Republican Men’s Club, Clay County in 1992 & 1992.
Ken and his wife, Donna, have two daughters, Nikki and Catrina.  His main hobby is general aviation, and he was the first civilian pilot to land at the newly civilian Cecil Field Airport in September, 1999.
