The District Governor 2021-22 Nominating Committee is hosting an Informational Meeting on Thursday, October 11th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Jesse Jones Rotary House Hotel at 1600 Holcombe Boulevard in Houston. Valet or self-parking is available. The committee and several PDGs will share information about the responsibilities of District Governor, some of the challenges, and will review the application process.
 
 
The committee is charged with the responsibility of selecting a governor-nominee in a dignified, responsible manner in harmony with the principles of Rotary. (Rotary Code of Policies 19.030.1). Each year, 7 members serve on the committee. Three are selected at District Conference, three more are selected as at-large members, and the Immediate PDG also serves. The members of this year's committee are listed below.
 
At the time of selection, the nominee will be called governor-nominee-designate and will assume the title of governor-nominee on 1 July two years before serving as governor. The governor-nominee must:

1) Be a regular member of a club in the district (RIB 15.070.1.)
2) Have full qualifications for membership in the strict application of the club membership provisions, and have a classification whose integrity is without question (RIB 15.070.2.)
3) Have served as president of a club for a full term or be a charter president of a club having served the full term from the date of the charter to 30 June, provided that this period is for at least six months (RIB 15.070.3.)
4) Demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability, physically and otherwise, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office of governor as provided in RI Bylaws section 15.090. (RIB 15.070.4.)
5) Demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of governor as prescribed in the RI Bylaws, and submit to RI, through its general secretary, a signed statement acknowledging a clear understanding of them. This statement shall also confirm that the Rotarian is qualified for the office of governor and willing and able to assume the duties and responsibilities of the office and to perform them faithfully (RIB 15.070.5)
6) Section 10.050 of the RI Bylaws provides that any candidate who becomes aware of campaigning, canvassing or electioneering for elective office in RI must express their disapproval to those so engaged and shall instruct them to terminate such activity.
 
 
In addition to the application, a Rotary resume will also be required of each candidate.
 
Interviews for the District Governor Nominee, who will serve as District Governor during the Rotary year, 1 July 2021 - 30 June 2022, will take place at:

Applications and Rotary resumes will be due by December 31, 2018 and accepted at the office of Lisa Pauls, 2021-22 Nominating Committee Chair, 210 Lake Rd., Ste. 900, Lake Jackson TX  77566.
