The District 5890 Rotary Foundation Global Grant Scholarships Committee conducted interviews on Saturday, November 21, 2015 to select outbound scholars for the 2016-2017 academic year.
 
 
This year, there were four applications interviewed and the committee selected the following three candidates to submit their applications to The Rotary Foundation from District 5890:
 
            Jan Dudek (sponsored by Bellaire/Southwest Houston Rotary Club)
                        Area of Focus:  Basic Education and Literacy
            Study Institution:  London School of Economics and Political Science
                        Academic Program: Master of Research Degree in Economics (Two Year Program)
 
            Olivia Hernandez (Sponsored by  Rotary Club of Humble)
                        Area of Focus:  Basic Education and Literacy
                        Study Institution:  University of Edinburgh
                        Academic Program:  Master of Science- International Development (One Year Program)
 
            Hyungjin (Tom) Kim (Sponsored by West U Rotary Club)
                        Area of Focus:  Disease Prevention and Treatment
                        Study Institution:  Kin’s College London & London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
                        Academic Program:  Masters in Global Mental Health (One Year Program)
 
It is always a pleasure to meet these fine young men and women, and the district committee would like to thank those Rotarians who took the time to identify and submit potential candidates for this very worthwhile program.  The quality of all of the students was truly exceptional and all of those interviewed would have been outstanding representatives of our district.
