Time flies.  We are now over halfway through the 2014-15 Rotary Year.  How is your Club progressing toward your Rotary Foundation Goals?  You can see by clicking on the heading of this article, then click on the Mid-Year Report on the left side of web page.  Want to make a donation to the Annual Fund (which funds our District and Global Grants) or to PolioPlus today?  Just click here to go straight to the Giving page www.rotary.org/myrotary/en/take-action/give

I hope you all enjoyed last night's special All Club Meeting with RI President Gary Huang and Corinna from Taiwan.  I never cease to be amazed and inspired by the dedication of our Rotary International leaders.

Many of the over 40 District 5890 Clubs which applied for a 2014-15 District Grant now have their projects underway and several have already received their District Grant checks following the completion of their project and filing of the final report.  Just think of how many service projects are being accomplished by District Grants when you consider that there are over 500 District worldwide.

If your Club would like to get their feet wet in a Global Grant, consider donating $1,000 or more toward our Water and Sanitation project - providing help to a number of schools in Uganda.  Contact Bill Davis at Billd@kingwoodcable.com for more info. or to commit to a donation.

Worldwide, about 3% of all Rotarians are members of the Paul Harris Society (members who have committed to give $85 per month or $1,000+ per year to any combination of the Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Global Grant).  But in District 5890, 6-1/2% (over 180) are PHS Members.  Please contact Dee Ullrich at dcullrich@gmail.com for more info or to become our 181st member.

On the PolioPlus front, we just celebrated the 4 year anniversary of a Polio Free India!  And and it has now been over 5 months since the last reported Polio case on the continent of Africa.  We may or may not be done there, but it now appears sure that Pakistan and Afghanistan will be the final Polio battleground.  Many challenges remain there, but we are "This Close".

Finally, Rotary's Endowment has reached a total of Fund Assets plus Expectancies of over $925 Million.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could reach the $1 Billion mark by the end of 2015!  Our Endowment helps us weather times of downward swings in the world economies.  Consider adding The Rotary Foundation to your will or life insurance policy.  You almost certainly won't miss it when you are gone!  Contact me to receive the form to use to notify Rotary of your estate wishes.

Best wishes for a great 2015 and thanks for all of your time, talent, and treasure service to Rotary!
