Here in District 5890, we have a beautiful tradition of doing a great service project each year in the community where our District Conference is held.  It's our way of doing something that will directly benefit the local community.  Our 2017 Rotary 5890 District Conference will be held April 20-23, 2017 at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa on Lake Conroe and we need your help with our District Conference Community Service Project.
District Governor Eric Liu and First Lady Sandra have selected one of the best projects we've ever done...A 24-foot "Children's Memory Wall" art piece (see photos above) that is located in "Memory Park" and is the signature project of the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe in Rotary D5910
The Children's Memory Wall will be a permanent piece of art which will display hand-painted ceramic tiles that have been painted by children to honor, memorialize, and remember their loved ones.  Memory Park is a Rotary project, located in the town of Montgomery, which is a beautiful nature park with nature trails, butterfly gardens, a bird sanctuary, plus more, that is just a few miles from where our District 5890 conference will be held.

We're going to visit Memory Park during our district conference!
After lunch on Friday, April 21st we'll visit Memory Park for about an hour to visit the Children's Memory Wall and maybe do some very light gardening with the help our Rotary Youth Exchange Students.  More details will follow, and everyone is invited!
The Rotary Club of Lake Conroe is extremely honored and proud that our District 5890 Rotary clubs will be part of this legacy project in their community...and so is DG Eric, and First Lady Sandra.   The wall panels where the tiles will be installed are situated so that children and anyone using the ADA compliant trail in a wheelchair will have an eye level view of the art work.
Charlie Buscemi is the District Conference Service Project Chair, so please contact him at or (713) 598-7193.
