Recently, a Dinner and Exclusive Wine Tasting was hosted at the home of Stan and Susan Galanski (Rotary Club of Space Center).  10 Rotarians from across the District attended and were served a three-course meal, that featured different wines from Chateau de Pommard (Beaune, France).

For the occasion, the Chateau’s Private Client Wine Advisor, Cedar Stoltenow, flew in to provide an educational presentation on the Burgundy Region, and describe the multiple facets of the five wines served throughout the meal.  None of the wines presented are distributed in the U.S., as they were delivered direct from the Estate.  The meal was completed with a Key Lime Pie for dessert and the pouring of a 25-year old Chateau d’Yquem, a Bordeaux Sauternes.

The evening was capped off with a Silent Auction bid for Chateau de Pommard’s estate grown, and rarest Pinot Noir cuvee, known as “Simone”.  The winning bid was from Past District Governor D’Lisa Simmons (Rotary Club of Houston Skyline).  All proceeds from the Auction (totaling $500) went to Rotary International’s Polio Plus Program.
