Thomas Mendez, one of our Rotary District 5890 Ambassadorial
Scholars that just returned from his scholarship year studying aboard in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, has started an excellent summer program. Thomas, and one of
his fellow University of St. Thomas graduates, Joseph Morton, have started the
Paideia Summer Academy which they
began to prepare promising high school students for success in college as
academic and social leaders.
The Paideia Summer Academy is a 3 week college-prep program for
high school juniors and seniors, and will be hosted at the University of St.
Thomas. The program will be held on weekdays from July 5th through July 22nd,
9:00a.m. to 3:20p.m.

article about this outstanding program, and also see the attachments for more
information.
At the Paideia Summer Academy, high school students will learn to engage with and interpret college level texts, and connect them to relevant current events in the world and in your own life.
Classes will be discussion-based, led by college professors, high school teachers, and business professionals, and will help students improve their critical thinking skills.
Only twenty students will be selected, and current sophomores, juniors and graduating seniors
interested in attending should contact Tom Mendez at info@thepaideiainstitute.org or
visit their website at www.thepaideiainstitute.org for the
application.
