The Rotary Club of El Campo and Rotary Club of Wharton worked with First Book, Disney and ABC 13 to help organize this book distribution project. Special thanks to DG Scott Rainey, and especially to Rotarian Sheila Armstrong (RC of Houston) with "First Book", and Jon King (RC of Sharpstown), for making this project happen.

"Thank all the Rotarians, teachers and staff for your special part in making this event one that first served about 3,000 children directly, and then I would guess around 12,000 people when you include all the family members." said Scott Rainey, District Governor of District 5890.  "Part of the magic was seeing the parents, who took time to bring their child to get the books.  One mother, at around 10:30 AM, said "My son woke me up so we could come get the books".  How many story lines are inside that statement!" Rainey said.
