This event has been cancelled!  As decided the morning of March 11, 2020, Rotary Night at the Rodeo scheduled for Thursday March 12 has been cancelled. Cancellation of the rest of the Rodeo is caused because of a joint decision by the City of Houston, Harris County, and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Obviously this is the result of Covid-19 virus and extreme efforts enacted to prevent spread of this virus. There are differing opinions about the necessity of this action, but the health of our community is of utmost importance and I’m sure the decision was not made lightly.

In the case of Rotary Night at the Rodeo tickets purchased through the District 5890 ClubRunner website, we expect to receive a refund for the loge tickets from HLSR in the future and since we are not having a dinner gathering there should be no charge for food or room. Rotary District 5890 officials are working out the best way to refund the payments made by Rotarians for Rotary Night at the Rodeo tickets (Full Ride and Meal-only) and we will notify all who purchased how those refunds will be made. This is a fast-breaking situation, but if you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.

District 5890 is hosting Rodeo Night at the Rodeo again at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Thursday March 12. We will have a delicious dinner buffet in the 600 Series rooms on the second floor of NRG Center. The Rodeo entertainer that night is Cody Johnson, a young Texas singer who was nominated for the CMA new artist of the year. This is a very popular performance and is likely to sell out. We have secured a block of 175 Loge Section 522 tickets. The Full Ride package for $70 includes entry to grounds and all of the activities available there, buffet dinner, and entry into NRG Stadium for the Rodeo and Cody Johnson performance with Loge seat tickets. We have some Dinner-only tickets for $35 for those who are already on-grounds with their own Rodeo tickets or HLSR badge entry privileges. The social hour and buffet dinner will be held in a private room located on the second floor of NRG Center, convenient to NRG Stadium and all other Rodeo activities. The doors will open at 4:30pm and we will have fellowship from 4:30 – 5:30 pm with a cash bar available and the dinner buffet will open by 5:30 pm. Of course with your entry ticket you can come as early as you would like and enjoy activities around the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo grounds like the Carnival, Livestock Show, shopping, AgVenture, and many other activities and exhibits.

Since we have a limited supply of tickets, we have a sales procedure that insures all District Rotarians have an equal chance to obtain the available tickets. To reserve up to 4 tickets (Rotarian plus up to 3 guests), ticket purchase must be made by a Rotarian from the District 5890 ClubRunner page and paid by credit card. The tickets will be sold on a first-received, first filled basis. When all of the tickets have been sold, the purchase button will be deactivated. John Cotterell will transmit an email to the purchasing Rotarian’s email address with an electronic PDF ticket attachment to print out and use. Each ticket will have a unique bar-code that will be scanned to allow entry into the HLSR grounds and also into NRG Stadium for the show. Your name will be placed on a check-in list for the dinner.
