8:30 Training Begins

International requires it’s President Elects to attend “a” President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) before taking office.

“Local” PETS is District 5830’s One Day / In-District / Free Club President Elect and Club President Nominee training alternative to Lone Star P.E.T.S. (LSPETS).

District 5830 developed “Local” PETS for the following reasons:

  • You may not be able to attend LSPETS due to time conflicts.  Many Presidents Elect have job responsibilities and/or family obligations that make it difficult to attend a 4-day conference.

  • You might benefit more from a "training" format than a LSPETS "discussion" format due to limited Rotary experience!  As many as 50% of President Elects have been Rotarians 3 years or less. (You don't know what you don't know!  So how do you be part of a discussion about something you don't know?)

  • Your club might find the total cost of attending LSPETS hard to swallow. Small and medium size clubs have expressed concerns about the cost/benefit to attend LSPETS. (Registration, transportation and lodging is approximately $1,000 for each attendee.
