District 5770 Welcomes You
District 5770 is comprised of thirty-one Rotary clubs located in south and southwest Oklahoma. The District also sponsors Rotaract clubs in universities across our area and supports Interact clubs in area high schools. Click here to request information.
From it’s beginnings in 1915 as District 11, encompassing Kansas and Oklahoma, to its current moniker designated in 1990, Rotarians of the district have made it known our hearts are in service to our local communities, with support to the global efforts of Rotary International. District 5770 has produced two Rotary International Presidents: Everett W Hill, of the Shawnee, Oklahoma, Rotary club in 1924-1925, and Ron Burton, of the Norman, Oklahoma, Rotary club in 2013-2014. Herbert J. Taylor, author of the Four-Way Test, served as the third president of the Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Rotary Club. He later moved to Chicago and served as President of Rotary International from 1954-1955.
We welcome you to inquire about our District and our Rotary Clubs. Please contact us. We’d love to get to know you!
The Rotary focus for the month of April is Supporting the Environment. We are committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster the harmony between communities and the environment.
The Rotary Foundation enables our members and their communities to take action in several ways. Global grant funding in the amount of $18.4 million has been allocated to environment-related causes in the past five years through our support of community economic development and water, sanitation, and hygiene projects.
Here are some of the ways we have taken action:
- Protecting and restoring land, coastal, marine and freshwater resources
- Enhancing the capacity of communities to support natural resource management and conservation
- Supporting sustainable agriculture, fishing, and aquaculture practices
- Addressing the cause of climate change by reducing the emission of greenhouse gases
- Strengthening ecosystems and communities affected by climate change
- Supporting education initiatives that promote behavior that protects the environment
- Advocating for sustainable consumption to build an economy that uses resources more efficiently
- Addressing environmental justice issues and public health concerns
Together as Rotarians we can "Create Hope in the World" by making the world a cleaner, healthier, more beautiful place to live. Keep supporting the Rotary Foundation so that we can continue to "do good in the world!"

In 2003, Cross Timbers Rotary club introduced Le Tour de Vin as a new and exciting way to raise funds for community and other Rotary service projects. 2008 marked the first time Sooner and Norman Rotary clubs joined Cross Timbers to expand its success, and newly-formed Legacy Rotary club joined the collaboration in 2018. The evening features fine wine and whiskey-tasting, music, silent and live auctions, and hor d'oeuvres from Norman restaurants. Over the years, money raised has supported projects for local charities including Red Cross, Bridges, Mary Abbott House, Thunderbird Clubhouse, Food & Shelter, Center for Children and Families, Inc., The Studio of Sooner Theatre, Full Circle, The Virtue Center and The Share Center of Food & Shelter.
