Here is an update on what some of District 5710’s clubs are pursuing for the 2014-2015 STEM education vocational initiative.

·        Western Johnson County is considering sponsoring a Big Brother Big Sister robotics team and STEM job shadowing/mock interviews for BIGS.

·        Leavenworth has established an interdisciplinary team of Rotarians and non-Rotarians to discuss collaborative STEM projects with a regional impact.  Participants include the University of St. Mary’s, Kansas City Community College, and the Leavenworth Public Library.

·        Overland Park South already sponsors a mentorship program at Southwest High School in robotics where 85% of the participants are young women.  The club also sponsors Blue Valley CAPS scholarships where 3 out of 4 scholarships go to young women pursuing STEM careers.

Please share a brief paragraph about your Club’s vocational services projects for inclusion in future District newsletters.  For more information about how your club can get involved in the STEM initiative (add link for STEM proposal) contact:
