Governor's Travels as of August 26
Boy! The weather was sure hot this week!  The Dawson Creek Club gave us a tour of the delightful heritage park and we stayed in the Mile “0” Campground that the Dawson Creek clubs have spent much  developing.
Later in the week, Dale Campbell showed me the many significant projects the two clubs in Dawson Creek had sponsored over the years, including a walk through the unique covered bridge constructed with two sea cans welded together.
The Fort St. John Sunrise Club and the Fort St. John Club work so well together for the benefit of Fort St. John’s citizens.  Samantha Warren showed us the Charlie Lake campground, Northern Peace Seniors Housing, and the impressive Child Development Centre.

We visited the Dawson Creek Sunrise Club on Friday morning. The level of cooperation between the four clubs was really gratifying to see.  They work together to present a cohesive picture to their communities of Rotary doing good work.  Donna and I enjoyed our visits and learned a great deal about the two communities and their Rotary Clubs that serve them.

Dear Family of Rotary in District 5370 and guests,

On Saturday, July 9, 2022, we had a truly amazing day at Edmonton Hub stop from the point of arrival of Rotary International President Jennifer Jones and her husband Nick Krayacacich, accompanied by Past Vice President Valerie Wafer and Mark, and Past Trustee Bryn Styles and Randy. There is no mistaking, they enjoyed immersed themselves in fun and fellowship in all the events that day.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the Steering committee and all the volunteers who joined us to honor our first female Rotary International President in 117 years of Rotary; who also happens to be a Canadian.  Thank you to all the guests who joined  “An Evening with Jennifer Jones” at the Blatchford Hanger.  You would have witnessed a warm, well informed, intelligent, passionate Rotarian who truly represents every Rotarian in the world.  Thank you President Jennifer Jones.

Our Steering Committee was cognizant that our district and the stop in Edmonton was such a great tribute to this part of Canada. So many of our members, our district  and the community stepped up with sponsorship and many volunteer hours to showcase our district to Canada as part of Jennifer’s IMAGINE ROTARY CROSS CANADA TOUR.

Mentorship Matters
Rotary to 5370 Mentorship Program
Have you been in the role of the Secretary or Treasurer in your club for a while and would like to mentor a fellow Rotarian on the tasks and responsibilities of these roles?
The Learning and Development Committee of District 5370 is organizing a Mentorship program, starting with these two specific roles of Secretary and Treasurer. The Committee is looking to build a Mentor pool of those who have a level of skill, knowledge, and competence to mentor another Rotarian in these roles.
We believe this program has great potential to help club leaders in all positions, but are first focusing on these two functional roles.
If you would like to add your name to the Mentor pool, please complete the attached form and submit to Kathleen Soltys, chair of the Mentorship Subcommittee at kathleen.s@telus.net. We would ask that you submit your form by August 15, 2022.
Once the Mentor pool has been established, we will be doing mentor orientation and training to assist you, then reaching out to those who wish to be mentored. Matches for Mentors and Mentees will take place in the fall.
Thanks to those who participate in this program and getting it underway!
