Rotary District 5370 Update
August 23, 2020

CONNECTIONS represents a commitment by the District’s Board of Governors to reduce the number of emails sent to all Rotarians and Rotaractors. We support clubs by publishing information about your upcoming events and fundraising activities.

Please assist this effort by refraining from broadcasting emails to all Rotarians in the District. Instead, send announcements to communications@Rotary5370.org. We’ll include your information in a future issue of CONNECTIONS and will tweet (or retweet your tweets) about your event. All submissions are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Announcements will be repeated as space permits.

An advantage of the District Conference that will occur virtually on Saturday, September 12 is that it opens opportunities for you to hear world-class speakers without having to travel any further than your living room or home office, wherever that may be across the three provinces and two territories that form our District.

And the speakers can share their messages without leaving their homes around the world—in Australia, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany and Ontario.

The speaker lineup includes a Rotary Global Grant scholar, an expert on the impact of technology, a Project Amigo alumnus, RI President Holger Knaack and RI Director Valarie Wafer.

Among the challenges imposed on clubs by COVID-19 is finding ways to raise funds to support community projects.

Restrictions on gatherings mean that many formerly successful fundraising activities are not viable, so some Rotary creativity is required to build up clubs’ bank accounts.

One club that has met this challenge is the Rotary Club of Vermilion.
