Notice of Special General Meeting
Due to a need to update, refresh and simplify the District 5370 Bylaws and to align with all of the Canada Not for Profit Corporation requirements; the Board requested the Governance Committee to undertake the work to review and update the bylaws.

The work to update the Bylaws was a year-long process that included a comprehensive review by the Board Governance Committee, a due diligence process that included review of suggested changes by the District legal counsel, and 4 reviews by the District Board. The Board approved the changes at the October 2021 meeting.

As these Bylaw changes need to be ratified by the Membership, the Board has scheduled a Special General Meeting on April 26, 2022 at 7 pm via ZOOM. A motion recommending the ratification of the amended bylaws will be presented at that time. The meeting will provide members with an opportunity for discussion and questions.

Please see links the revised District 5370 Bylaws and the previous Bylaws.

Club presidents have been asked to review these documents with their members and to forward any questions to our Office Administrator (office@rotary5370.org) by April 15, 2022.  Responses to questions at the Special General Meeting.

Greetings Rotarians!

RYLE (Rotary Youth Leadership Experience) is now open!  RYLE is an opportunity for students to gain and strengthen leadership skills as well as network with like-minded students while having lots of fun. This year we will be returning to Camp Nakamun for an in-person 4 day RYLE camp April 28th-May 1st.

Rotary Clubs are invited to sponsor high school students; including members of Interact Clubs, to attend the 4 day camp. Applicants do not need to be involved with Rotary or Interact, as long as they are interested and willing to participate in the RYLE camp experience. We encourage every student to apply for this opportunity as we promote diversity and inclusion.

Please let us know how many students your club will be sponsoring by April 8th 2022. The sponsorship fee per student is $475. Please email us to let us know how many spots to save for your club!

Greetings Rotarians!

Spring camps will be here before we know it so we are reaching out to provide you with registration and sponsorship information. We are back to hosting our Youth Camps in person this year!

RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program for Enrichment) is a program geared toward personal growth and development. We are hosting RYPEN at Birch Bay Ranch from May 5th - 8th. This is a great opportunity for students to connect, have fun and learn about themselves.

Rotary Clubs are invited to sponsor high school students; including members of Interact Clubs, to attend the camp. Applicants do not need to be involved with Rotary or Interact, as long as they are interested and willing to participate in the virtual experience. We encourage everyone to apply for this opportunity as we promote diversity and inclusion.

Please let us know how many students your club will be sponsoring for each program by April 15, 2022 so that we can ensure all sponsorships are filled.  Clubs are responsible for contacting their Interact Clubs. The sponsorship fee per student is $475 for each program. Please email us to let us know how many spots to save for your club.

RYPEN application links are attached below

If you have any questions regarding RYPEN, please contact us at rypen5370@gmail.com

Membership Seminar: Sustaining New Clubs
You are invited to participate in the next membership seminar being hosted by Zone 32 on the topic of sustaining new clubs.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, April 12 at 7PM Eastern time.  ZOOM link to register below!

Many districts are starting new innovative clubs.  This seminar will focus on what comes next to ensure their long-term success. The session will include:
  • A panel discussion with leaders from three clubs started in the past 3-4 years that have been very successful in growing their membership. They are very different types of clubs.
  • A presentation on a new resource on Nurturing New Clubs.  This resource provides specific recommendations on actions for clubs and districts to take early on in a club's lifecycle to ensure long-term success.

Feel free to forward this invite to others in your district who may be interested.  Hope to see you on April 12!
Tax time is a great time to review your personal papers and dispose of documents no longer needed, in a safe and secure manner.

Shredfest, a collaboration between the Rotary Clubs of Edmonton Mayfield and Riverview, is a great opportunity for doing this. Shredfest is a Rotary Day of Service Project which supports the new Rotary Area of Focus on the Environment since the shredded material is recycled and diverted from the landfill. Bring your boxes of papers or Shred bags to Shredfest on May 7th, at Kingsway Mall 9-1 pm.

You can prepurchase sealable Shred bags for $25, then drop the Shred bags off at Shredfest May 7 at Kingsway Mall and watch them being shredded. Shred bags hold the equivalent of two storage boxes and includes your $20 donation to Rotary Shredfest.

Pick Up your Shed bags at EBike Edmonton Retail location 9927 76 Ave, Edmonton or purchase them at the regular meetings of the Rotary Clubs of Edmonton Mayfield or Riverview.
