It’s Membership Month!

How can you take care of your existing members?  There are countless articles written on the subject, but here are some of the ideas that really resonated with your district membership committee:
  •    Ensure everyone in your club has a committee to serve on or an executive position.  Make sure that each person understands what that role is trying to accomplish.
  • Do you have members that aren’t attending regularly?  Make sure that they receive a call.  Check in with them and find out how they are doing.  Give them an update on what the club is up to and make sure they know that they will be welcomed back at any time.
  • Celebrate the milestone events of your club members in an inclusive way.  Everyone has a birthday, but not everyone has a partner or a wedding anniversary.  What other milestones can you celebrate?
  • Have a “care and concern” person on your executive.  Have that person be in charge of reaching out to Rotarians in your club who are going through hard times.
  • Ask for feedback from club members on a regular basis.  This can be as simple as a one on one conversation or a quick phone call.
  • Make sure your club members are all greeted individually when they attend a meeting.
  • Make time to get to know each other better in formal and informal ways.  Plan social events.  Schedule time for members to give a presentation on themselves at meetings.

The District Membership Committee is happy to meet with your executive or your club to share ideas and resources for creating strong membership.
