This webinar is linked to the Rotary focus area called community and economic development. It will provide
examples of strategies and tools that Rotary projects can use to move beyond charity to building the
capacity of people and their local and regional institutions to enhance their social and economic conditions.
In this way, it will help clubs respond to Rotary International’s call for sustainable projects that build
capacity rather than simply bringing in answers, technologies, and goods from the outside.

In this session the audience will learn these 3 things:
 The difference between charity and development
 Strategies for mobilizing community members and building their capacity for development action
 The power of the local economy and how to use “quick-win” projects to spark entrepreneurship
