the paul harris society in a nutshell

"What we do for ourselves, dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal..."- Albert Pine D. 1851

WHAT IS THE PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY?

The Paul Harris Society (PHS) is a program of annual giving to The Rotary Foundation of $1000.00 or more.

WHO QUALIFIES?

A Rotarian, or a non-Rotarian, who commits and maintains a contribution of $1000.00 or more to The Rotary Foundation each and every year is a member of the Paul Harris Society.

WHO CREATED THE PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY?

In 1998, Governor Wayne Cusick of District 5340 realized that although giving an annual sum of $1000.00 to TRF was not for every Rotarian, many could be encouraged to contribute at a higher level. Governor Cusick formatted the PHS program to encourage and recognize those individuals who contributed $1000.00 or more annually to TRF. Donations to TRF increased substantially. Wayne Cusick was honored by RI Past President and Foundation Chair Luis Vicente Gay at the 2007-08 Convention in Salt Lake City for creating the successful PHS program.

HOW ARE THE PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY MEMBERS RECOGNIZED?

PHS members are immediately recognized upon submitting a PLEDGE FORM or making a lump sum annual donation to TRF in the amount of $1000.00 or more. PHS members are presented with a certificate and the PHS insignia emblem, which is worn with either a Rotary pin or TRF pin. Members are published on the District website, directory, and/or newsletter in addition to being honored at District events.

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE?

Ask your Club's Rotary Foundation chair for the Foundation Pledge form. You may also contact the 2018-2019 Paul Harris Society Chairs: Jeff & Karen Weigel at jeffkweigel@me.com or karenweigel@me.com. If you choose to make your donation online or direct to TRF, be sure to inform your Club Rotary Foundation Chair of your generous gift as it is important that it be reflected in your Club's records.
